Watch: Canucks' Elias Pettersson gets no-look assist while falling

Nov. 30 (UPI) — Vancouver Canucks center Elias Pettersson didn’t even need to look while dishing a falling assist during a loss to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Pettersson’s helper came in the first period of the 4-3 setback on Thursday at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. It set up the first goal of the game.

The Golden Knights had control of the puck on their defensive end at the start of the sequence. But Pettersson bolted over the blue line and intercepted a pass while skating toward the goal. His first touch went a bit too far, but Pettersson was able to catch up to the puck. He was then tripped up by Nat Schmidt.

Pettersson managed to stay with the puck as he was approached by Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb. He wrapped the puck around the defender and put it out in front of the goal for Brock Boeser, who blasted a shot past Marc-Andre Fleury.

The Golden Knights tied the game with a William Carrier goal toward the end of the opening frame. Max Pacioretty then scored twice for a 3-1 Golden Knights advantage.

Alexander Edler grabbed a goal for Vancouver 2:50 into the third period before Boeser tied the score six minutes later.

William Karlsson made the game-winner at the 13:35 mark for Vegas.
