Forget about the 2 or 3 hour workouts or split routines that you read about in all the magazines. These training regimens are designed and written by pro's, who are paid and make their living by Bodybuilding. Their sole purpose is to eat, train and grow to be the biggest and best they can be. For the average bodybuilder or weight weight trainer, bodybuilding does not have to be the most important part of their life; just a hobby to improve their overall health and appearance.
The Basics of Bodybuilding are true for Pro's and average joe's alike. Training, Nutrition, Supplementation and Rest. All four of these variables are essential in order to achieve the desired results. Let's break them down and hopefully help you achieve the Body you Want.
Training; working out, lifting weights, whatever you want to call it is the catalyst that the other three variables feed off of in order to create a perfect balance of synergistic beauty to help transform anyone's body from one phase to another. Working out with weights stimulates the body to release hormones and other chemicals that if stimulated further and transform an ordinary physique into a magnificent specimen. But, if one of the other three variables is not incorporated into any Bodybuilders regimen than their quest to transform their body is doomed.
Training with weights should be a systematic and very disciplined regimen. You should be focused and not distracted by talking to friends or other members in the gym. You should keep a daily log of your daily workout, keep track of sets, reps, the amount of weight used for each set. Your training session should not last for more than 60 minutes (note: this does not include cardio vascular training) If you are spending more than 60 minutes lifting than I assume you are either a Pro or simply chatting to much or wasting time in some other way. Remember, focus on the task, get it done and be done with it.
Nutrition is probably as important as training in having a success with transforming your body. The hormones I spoke about earlier need to be stimulated with nutrition in order to help rebuild and repair the body after an intense training session. Foods high in protein and low in fat should be consumed often. High quality carbohydrates like oatmeal, long grain or brown rice and sweet potatoes should be included as well, especially after an intestinal workout. How much do you ask. Well that depends on your goals and what your trying to achieve. If you are trying to bulk up, than 1.5gms of protein per pound of bodyweight per day, and 1 gm of high quality carbohydrates per pound of bodyweight per day. FAT how should never exceed 30 grams per day. If you are trying to lean up or get more cut or ripped than you should decrease the carbs to .5 gms per pound of bodyweight per day and the FAT to a Maximum of 20 grams per day.
Supplementation is essential in today's hectic world. Who has time to cook five or six high quality protein rich meals in a day? Not many of us. Here, the invention of Supplements help solve the problem. Now, if we are wealthy or have extra amount of time on our hands and are able to cook everyday, than some supplementation is not necessary. In order your muscles to grow and repair, they require rest. 8 hours of sleep per night is mandatory, and if you're not training with weights or doing cardio vascular training than all other activities must be kept at a minimum. This includes long walks through the mall on Saturday or Sunday, do you know how many calories you burn doing that? Alcohol and partying should be kept to a minimum and cut out completely if you can. The body is a fine tuned machine that if steered in the right direction, and provided with the right nutrients and rest can become the Body you Want in no time.
